am i just being daft? :D

Yor question is perfectly normal and not at all daft. Ask as many questions as you like as they help everyone.

What you have sounds like floaters and lots people get them. If you are worried it is always a good idea to speak to your opticians or doctors.

It's just bits of the goo in your eye becoming a bit more liquid. They've probably aways been there - they're perfectly normal and you'll particularly notice them if you're looking at something like open blue sky.

In some respects they're a bit like breathing - it's just something your body has or does but you only really notice it when you start thinking about it!

Yeah I get them and I hate them, have had them for a few years and got my eyes looked at by the eye doc. Seems many of us get them as part of growing older. (groan). Mine are at their worst when it is bright and/or I am looking at something white. So I have the specs that change colour and they help a lot.

good point!!!....but!.....the reason i asked is because i see it all the time.....it's not a case of seeing when i think about it.....but it is there all the time!!.....so thinking it makes no diff!!!....the fact is it's always there...see? lol i wish you could....ok seems like im being daft

yes mine are there all the time too but they are more noticeable in bright lights or when things are white. The glasses which change colour help me to ignore them a bit. If it is really worrying you go and talk to an optician about it. They are a nuisance I know.

SOrry I had assumed everyone knew what floaters are. They can be very annoying, but as others have said they are quite normal. Are you due an eye test? (that is a sight test and not a retinal scan) You get one free every year for being diabetic. The optician will reassure you. It's worth getting done as it is one less thing you need to worry about.

Just to reassure you, I have these too and am non-D. I have got so used to them I don't really notice them any more.

My floaters in my right eye haven't got any worse since I was hit by an icey snowball, when aged 13 years, long before I got diabetes. Still a bit annoying, particularly in bright sunlight, so I tend to wear sunglasses more than most people, and it was a particular issue when sitting exams during summer, with sunlight streaming in through a window.

When I had only been diagnosed a few months I used to notice floaters a lot when I was out for a run - it was almost like I had a cloud of midges around my field of vision, which is what I thought they actually were for some time! Haven't really noticed anything for a long time now though. I did used to be aware of them from time to time pre-diagnosis as well.

Because i work outside i wear sun glasses, sometimes when it is not even that bright, but i find i get these "floaters" really bad when i am trying to colour match a boat in the sun or concentrating on a job a lot.

Have you spoken to your optician? - have you even got an optician?

get one !
