Got to go to the eye hospital again today (appointment was cancelled last November), to assess whether I need more laser on my annoyingly dodgy left eye :(

Wish me luck! 🙂

Oh Alan I was wondering just the other day when your appointment was. I so hope that they say no lasering. All I can say is that in my experience lasering near the macula is short and doesn't hurt. Thinking of you. Big hugs and much love x

Oh, what a pain! Hope all goes well and you're given the all clear.

Hope it goes well, Northener.🙂

Good luck. Fingers crossed for a good result.

Good luck! Thinking of you X

Sending massive best wishes northerner, let us know how it goes.

Good luck Northie - sending lots of PMA your way.

Hope it is ok! I'm on a break atm from lasering after 2 years

Fingers and toes crossed for you.

Hope all is well Alan.

Hope all is well with the eyes and it is good news for you

And good luck from me. Hope all goes well 🙂

Thanks everyone 🙂 Such a trek out there and interminable waiting facing a blank wall once your there (would love to know who designed the seating 😱 )

A bit mixed. No treatment required, but he has noticed some fluid leaking behind both eyes - this hasn't been observed in the past, previously they've only been concerned by some vessels near the macula in my left eye. However, not bad enough to require treatment, so I've got to go back in 3 months to see if it's any better/worse - he mentioned the possibility of injections (gulp! 😱). Anyone have this or know what it is called? He had a heavy foreign accent so couldn't quite catch what he said.

One thing that cheered me up - the young lady doing the scans told me I had amazing eyelashes and she was jealous and wanted them! 🙂 No-one has ever told me that before! :D

I think it's good news. At least there's no treatment yet!

I agree with you regarding the injections *gulp*

Oh bugger Alan about leaking behind both eyes. But good that they are monitoring it. I had one injection but it was for the retinal vein occlusion. Too many years after mine had developed for it to help. It was exactly the same injection as for diabetes and can be very successful. I was petrified but it didn't actually hurt. I think they are monthly injections for several months and there is a lot of waiting around. I think it is called Lucentis but I could be wrong. The actual procedure doesn't take very long at all and involves a local anaesthetic injected in the eye followed by the main injection. My vision was weird in the injected eye for about 48 hours afterwards - black swirly patterns - but then went back to normal.
In the meantime if you notice any change in your vision/ability to read please go to eye casualty Asap as the fluid may have leaked quicker than expected. Please do not wait for your appointment because early treatment is important.

Thanks Amanda. He did say I should contact them if I noticed any change in my vision, but it's often hard to say when you're not sure what to expect - he mentioned my vision becoming foggy?

I think my guidance would be contact them iif you notice any changes. Where I live you can only get to be seen quickly if you go to eye casualty who then arrange an urgent clinic appointment. For me it was finding it harder to read print and my eye feeling blobby - they look at me strange when I say that but it makes sense if there is macula oedema/swelling from the fluid. Big hugs for you.
