Eye screening

Just back from eye screening appointment Originally due in September but like everything was cancelled due to Covid. The organisation needs a bit of tweaking. I went to the surgery, she checked I was who I said I was, did that eye chart test and then put the drops in my eyes. I was told to wait in the waiting room. Sat there reading my paper when a woman came in to take our temperature. I did wonder why that wasn't done before the drops had been put in?! How would it work if my temp has been too high? Still, eye screening done.
 
Good God! It's a double porch at the front of our GP surgery and you can ONLY get inside the street door, you are not allowed through the inside door until the PPE'd person has taken your temp and asked if you've got Covid symptoms.
 
That's interesting. I have mine a bit later this afternoon at a different place from my usual, so we'll see what happens there. I hope they let Mr Marten in to wait for me as I like him to come in case my eyes are too blurry afterwards (it does vary though).

If not, he'll have to stroll around Tesco for the duration!
 
I went to the local community hospital which is where I have had my other screening appointments. They were also using it for Covid vaccination so there was a queue of people out of the doors, but several stewards checking people had masks and asking about symptoms etc. Don't think anyone was doing temp checks... probably just as well as I had run the last half a mile as I misjudged the time it would take me to walk there and was rather hot and flustered (but on time thankfully). I was the only one in the retinal screening area, so I did my eye test, had my drops sat and waited then had my photos and left without coming into contact with anyone other than the technician doing the screening. It all felt very safe.
 
Well mine next week is at the Function Room in The Town Hall, in the next town. My other half is hoping to be able to park outside in a parking bay, outside but as it will be late afternoon I think he will be out of luck.
 
I've not had my temperature taken at my local GP surgery or the hospital opthamology dept!

Wonder whether it's down to the local staff teams wanting to feel safe and implementing additional measures. It is quite nice being able to attend appointments and not having to wait ages though.

The woman taking the photos was o my too happy to tell me she had had Covid, her various symptoms, if she had l9ng Covid...and on it went

Yep - same rules for all healthcare locations hereabouts - unless you ARE blind or unable physically to move yourself adequately.

Pete has to sit in the car and wait wherever I have needed to go for the last 12 months.

Most appointments even at Chiropractor's check temperature.
 
Well, I had my retinal screening yesterday as I mentioned. The health centre was very empty, woman on reception told us to take a seat in the waiting area - no temperature checks or anything else and Mr Marten was not asked why he was there. Two or three other people were waiting, and the staff seemed to be catching up with screenings (a family with two kids came in later and were seen by a separate staff member).

I was called in on time, got the eyedrops and went out to the area to wait again. I will say that the screening lady was very pleasant, and efficiently got the drops in my eyes better than most! After the photos were done we left and got a few bits in Tesco. So no checks at all, and it was all very quiet...

Sorry to hear about the mix up at the surgery. Hopefully the temperature taking thing was just a glitch.
 
I had mine at the Town Hall function room on Monday, the room was large. The waiting area had chairs social distanced , but it was just a corridor, and fairly cramped.
