Just looking at the lucozade bottle by my bed....it expired in november 2010!!! 😱

It is open...will this effect the glucose content or should i just chuck it???

As it's open, I'd chuck it!! Mind you, I'd probably chuck it even if it hadn't been opened.😉
 
I can beat that - my bottle expired in 2009! I wouldn't imagine the glucose content will be affected, but it might not taste so good. I'll never know because I can't imagine me ever opening this bottle as I always have to have something to chew after a hypo, can't do with drinks!

Oh dear Nikki, we both have old lucozade - this is getting spooky! 😱 :D

LOL alan this is getting too strange! I dont usually use lucozade for my hypos either but its an emergency one i have by the side of my bed that luckily i have only had to use once! I think im gonna chuck it even though its my favourite flavour...APPLE! 🙂

Mine is open too and has only been used once - but mine isn't apple 🙂 I ought to chuck mine too. I've actually got another unopened bottle in the fridge because it was buy one get one free 🙂

I used to buy Lucozade, but I kept chucking them out unused. So now I don't bother buying them. I have the mini cans of coke instead for a liquid sugar. Carol mainly uses Glucotabs

I've also got bottles of sports drinks I've had years because they were given to me after races!
 
I dont know why but i always have a can in the fridge as im yet to suffer a hypo yet.I did throw one last Tuesday that expired in may 09 mind you. So i must of brought it over to the new place when we moved in June last year 🙄
 
The glucose content can't change much - if anything, water will evapourate, leaving drink more concentrated.
Most drinks bottles carry a message about keeping in a fridge after opening and consuming within 3 days. That's mainly to deal with microbial action - bacteria, yeast etc. Yeast could be converting glucose into alcohol.
I don't like using drinks for treating hypos, due to not needing a whole bottle, leaving left-overs. Packets of sweets don't go off when opened, so are more economical.
I'd happily drink an unopened can / bottle well past its best before date.
 
When I moved house earlier this week I found I had four cans of John Smiths bitter and to my knowledge they have moved house three times lol.

They were purchased for guests at christmas quite a few years back.:D


Now gone but would beer have had a date?

Yes, beer would have a best before date, especially in cans! I used to have some Georgian tea that I brought back from Russia in 1979 - it moved with me 12 times! 😱
