We have nothing from A&E. I'm trickle feeding him Complan (high in sugar) plus he had 1/4 of a fruit scone (white flour I know but I'm at the stage where it's whatever he fancies). I rang the automated and made an appt for Next Tuesday which is not helpful. Are there any OTC tummy soothing meds I could get? He's also on Buscopan. Thanks all for your input as we have no friends or neighbours/family with diabetes
Please talk to a pharmacist - they're the experts on medications, including over the counter and prescribed.
Next Tuesday is too long to wait. How do you get an emergency appointment at your surgery? Perhaps phone as soon as it opens tomorrow morning, and keep phoning until you speak to someone.

I'll try but it's not easy, they're so understaffed! There is a good pharmacist a couple of villages away (10 miles) but they're closed today! BH

No one said anything about a C reactive protein test, no

It usually makes up part of the blood test when they're looking for inflammation markers Chrissie. Did they tell you what they were testing for?

NO! It was very busy in A + E and I was in a bit of a panic as I'd had no breakfast so tried to eat some cereal in the car en-route, plus had other things arranged for today which I had to cancel on the way, the triage guy just said we'll take some blood - 3 phials - then the Dr. said all the bloods have come back OK

What a nightmare Chrissie. You sound at screaming point and no wonder!

He's had a bath and a mint humbug, plus I've just made him 1/2 of a Complan in a small glass but he doesn't fancy it - he's dozing on the settee in a morphine haze I think.

If he doesn't fancy Complan, then encourage him to drink water or anything else. Mint often soothes gut pains slightly, so a humbug is a good idea.
