There's an issue with DDs scripts every single week I'm so sick of it! Just gone for her mobile cassettes and heard pharmacist on the phone saying something about 'its excessive yeah' then got told I need to be seen to prescribe them, the diabetes doctor put the tests on repeat last week when they made me make an appointment! Went in the doctors and the script was printed off no questions asked.

I don't understand why I can't just go in every Wednesday and them give me the stuff she needs. Rant over.

How tiresome...irritating and unnecessary Shivles...rant on...I would...idiots.

Ridiculous. And also ridiculous that you should have to go in on a weekly basis. I put in a repeat prescription request as and when I need to, tends to be every five or six weeks - every prescription will need strips and lancets (we get 400 at a time), but I will tick other items on his repeat list only if we're running low, e.g. ketone strips, insulin etc.

Ask your consultant to write to the GP telling them you need x amount of BG testing consumables every month.

It's because they don't want us to have the 200 tests a week... We've got a CGM appointment next week so hopefully I won't need nearly as many soon

It's not excessive if that's how many you need and there are sound clinical reasons for the number of strips/cassettes you are being prescribed or your GP would be having a fit instead of the pharmacist. I'd use another pharmacy if there is one. I hope you get the CGM so that this nonsense won't happen again.

I know you'd think if the diabetes specialist GP said it's okay that would be enough wouldn't you? 🙄 jobsworth

Does your prescription issuers know how much stress and anxiety you are suffering?
Would you consider sending them a concise letter telling them this?
(Ask for a reply in writing - creating a paper trail ensures they can't wriggle out of a duty of care.)

I hope you get your strips sorted out soon.

My pharmacy delivers so it saves me a trip into town.

I just posted this on a different thread, but might help them understand that whatever they think they know, they are wrong and acting contrary to guidelines:

I would suggest reading the following page, particularly the section about 'Access to sufficient test strips'. There is a letter you can print off and all the NICE guidelines:

http://www.inputdiabetes.org.uk/bgm/

This has been going on for years, and still causes problems :(

See also, this page:

https://www.diabetes.org.uk/About_u...ing/Access-to-test-strips-A-postcode-lottery/

The 2016 report will be available soon, but the page has a link to the 2013 report. Perhaps you should send the GP a copy of that as well, but certainly send the letter

Since she's getting a CGM very soon I'm not that stressed about it, it's just a bit annoying, however I should probably make a point of giving them the literature so they know not to do it with anyone in future

These are really good articles - thanks Northerner. I have a feeling my test strip usage may be called into question soon as my 100 strips (for a month) are being used in 2 weeks. Now I'll have something to take with me and show them. Thanks.

I'd say that's modest strip use, her prescription is now 200 a week 😱 Haha
