Just read that. 60 is no age at all.

I’ll second that Vince! Trouble is I don’t think the average darts player lived a particularly healthy life. The early days seemed to be endless pints and air thick with smoke!
Fully agree was par for the course good to watch their skills though. I could never hit a barn door with a dart never mind double top.

We were gobsmacked - he was on one of the 'Pointless Celebrities' they do for charity, that was on over Easter - and we both said he looked pretty OK - he got very fat at one stage, well, he wasn't.

Did't realise he was that much younger than us either. Sad. RIP Eric.

What great pics @Kaylz
Brings the reality also home.
They are only from February 2016 so they aren't too old either, this was at an event at the local pub, there were 2 other players there too, the night before this though Bristow was sat through the pub bit with all of us just having a pint! 🙂 xx

RIP. :(

Used to love watching him on Fred Trueman's 'Indoor League' back in the 1970s 🙂 Surprising to think how young he was back then, I didn't realise he was practically the same age as me - when I saw the headline I thought he must be in his mid-60s.

Classic final - 1981 Eric Bristow vs. the legendary Leighton Rees:

Heard the news break while watching the Prem League Darts from Liverpool last night.

Seen him twice playing exhibition matches in his heyday, once with the late great Jocky Wilson, had the pleasure to meet Eric in person at the World Matchplay in Blackpool and shook his hand and had a photo taken, a true gent and a true ambassador to the game. A sad loss.
