Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi All. After some advice. I have had ED for about 7 years, tried Calis and Viagra which have never worked. My doctor is about to prescribe me Levitra but I was wondering if it is just the same sort of strength medication or a stronger one. Whichever tablets I have used so far I have never achieved an erection even when tried alone so I do not think it's nerves so I'm just hoping this may work. I also have 0 libido but have met a wonderful woman who is understanding but in the back of my mind I'm wondering how long this can last for. Do these tablets help with libido and if not is there anything that can be done for that? Now becoming worried about my relationship in the future and any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated

Hey mrmagoo, I have no idea about the tablets but I do know that lots of medication can have an impact on both libido and performance, have you explored this with your doc to see if there are any alternatives you might try? As for your new relationship, be honest with her, not just about the situation but how it makes you feel, she may well surprise you and you could find it’s not that big a deal for her 😉

Hi mrmagoo, it might be worth asking your GP to refer you to urologist who specialises in treating ED, If you have exhausted all medical options, then there is a surgical option available too, search penile prosthesis, loads of info on youtube. Might also be worth searching for specialist in this field near you and have a private consultations, it's a lot quicker. I, like yourself tried all medical options inc self inject, they didn't do much for me. By the way, i haven't had the surgical option yet

Most urology departments have a specific erectile dysfunction clinic and is a much more common problem than many people may think. I would also suggest you speak to your GP regarding a possible referral. As Cathy suggests a chat to your lady friend about your concerns would be good if you feel able to. I wish you well x

Are you taking any anti depressants? As they can effect libido

Hope you find a treatment option that works for you @mrmagoo

I had a friend who was young and should not have a problem with erectile dysfunction, but for some reason he did. He told me that he uses viagra a almost every time he is having sex. Every time he was buying it from someone he was feeling bad because that person knew he had problems performing. It should not be anything shameful, but that is how we are.

Viagra can work if you buy it from the right place.

Viagra is available free of charge in the UK, to anyone who needs it, as part of the NHS. It is different in the US where you are posting from.

Diabetes completely robbed me of my sex drive but found sildenafil works for me as long as I take 100mg instead of 50..but you do have to get past the myth that these give you instant elections. You still need to be as per any sexual experience in the mood and be sexualy stimulated and at first they didn't work for me as I put too much faith that it was a guaranteed, once I learnt that its just a helping hand they work virtually every time and once that pressure is off you its a lot more relaxed.
