Hi all sorry i havent been on for a while there are just not enough hours in the day, i would appreciate some advice if possible, i started a job in july inm a finance admin role, in jan they stuck me in the warehouse moving heavy boxes in the freezing cold, as you can imagine not only am i now wracked with pain but i have had hypo after hypo despite altering my insulin to compensate and once i get cold i stay cold for days, i get home from work and lay freezing in a hot bath etc i do get warm by monday after a weekend but then its back to work.... there are so few jobs out there and i am applying i am not sure that is a solution, if i leave i wont get benefits which is fair enough and i would rather work, just dont know what to do, i am now not only exhausted but depressed too.

Can you not speak to your boss telling them how your current role is affecting your health? And also when you joined their company it was in an admin role. Your new position is now manual labour and not everyone could cope with that huge change. I know I couldn't. If you had to give up work and go on benefits you would be doing it for health reasons. With a medical certificate I suppose you would be able to claim ESA. If you claimed JSA that limits you to the type of work you can do I presume. Not much in the way of work out there. I think your best move for now would be to discuss it with your boss as to how the manual work and the cold affects you and your diabetes.

Errr, can they just change your job completely like that ?

What on earth was your job description in your contract of employment?

That's what I was kind of getting at Trophywench. Just seems a bit much going from admin job to manual labour. You certainly didn't sign up for that.

Hi Medusa.
I have 4 questions if I may .
1 What are the terms of your Contract of Employment ?
2 Is your employer fully aware of your Diabetes.? i.e did you declare it on your application and during interview
3 Is this a permanent or temporaray role?
4 Did you agree to the change in your role and how much notification where you given?
I am having a problem, and please forgive me for this, understanding how you were initially employed in what I would see as a non-manual role and then they would switch you to a manual one if A) they knew about your diabetes, and B) they did not consult you and change the terms ond conditions of your employment contract with your agreement and knowing the effect such a change would have on your health and well-being.

**** Corrected my early morning terrible typos

Hi Medusa, Pleased you have come back ! 🙂 I have been Self-Employed since being 21. Apparently the boss is reasonable BUT ! Really good luck sorting. I wish I could give you some advice but Vince is a good bloke & may be able to. He is from my area. 🙂

Just wanted to point out that the original post is nearly 5 years old, I suspect things have moved on.

Ah!! That wasn't clear it appeared in my list of new posts this morning lol

That would be because Shimmer replied to it yesterday as well before you did, so it pops up in the newly replied to posts.

Every day a little wiser

The position of a thread in the New Posts list depends on the date and time of the last post in it.
Same applies for your watched list.

Shimmer must have gone back quite a few pages. Interesting. 🙂
