My new doctor has accepted my registration and has given me the choice of emis access or i-patient to access medical records.

Is there any difference between them or any advantages of one or the other?

Sorry not heard of either. Though this new Doctor seems switched on.

Think EMIS is used by more surgeries than other ones. In England anyway.

If you are required to chose, then the surgery must answer your question - otherwise if you can't compare them - how the hell are you supposed to make a flippin choice.

Strikes me they aren't really helping - telling you that you can't have this or that, but not telling you WHY. No surgery should change a patient's treatment without discussing it with them first. I realise it isn't they who were giving you the B12 jabs in the first place - but if there's a good reason why you need them - then you can't suddenly stop them else you'll just become ILL. I would have thought that they would need to do the necessary blood tests at the very least, before making any such decisions. B12 deficiency has VERY far-reaching consequences for the patient - and not always reversible. Including eg Nerve Damage and pain.

This GP practice is from what I have been told is one of the better ones in my area, my B12 is not due until April and I know when it's overdue, more questions for the doc when he rings next week.

Browsing through their website looks like all their links to book appointments etc all take one to the emis access web pages, so looks like that's the preferred one to use.

I'm surprised the surgery can offer you a choice as surely they only use one system for their surgery? Technically I can't see how you can be given a choice. Mine used to use Emis but now use System Online having changed last year; not sure why they changed but they both work.
