Simon, I can understand your frustration, I have several friends who eat less than me, yet can't seem to shift the weight, and you only need to look down any street to see that people are built differently, that's genetics for you! Probably the only thing you can do if your diet is good is increase your exercise levels so you are burning more calories than you consume. Probably difficult for you to do easily, given your foot problems - how is that going, by the way?

Dear Northie,

Wrong hypothesis!! :D:D

Warmest Regards Dodger

I wanted to watch this, I started to watch it but just couldn't!

I thought I had problems after my weight loss but nothing like any of that!

Kate wrote an excellent post so thanks Kate.

I'm very sorry to hear that Simon :( I wonder if a physiotherapist could shed any light on it? A good one would know a lot about bones, muscles and tendons and may be able to suggest exercises or something to reduce the swelling. When I broke my leg, my physio knew much more about it than the doctors after they had scaffolded it back together.

I like physios - their basic approach is always "what can we do to keep you active" instead of the "stop if it hurts" approach of some doctors. It's helped me on a number of occasions eg chondromalacia patella in my early 20s: GP wanted to refer me to orthopaedic surgeon, but I asked to be refered to a physio who gave me some thigh muscle strenghtening exercises, which sorted the problem and which I used if twinges reappeared; low back pain in my early 30s (due to inadequate sleep / lying down) solved by osteopath / physio, helped by prescribed painkillers to keep me active.

That's exactly it Copepod - the doctors were happy enough that I could limp along, but the physio got me back running again. Unfortunately there are good and bad - a BUPA physio I first saw knew nothing about sport and was clearly only experienced with older people who'd perhaps broken hips, she was completely useless for me.

Dear Dodger,

Or not!! 😉

Andy 🙂

Dear Andy,

I was just doing a bit of "Northie Baiting" 😉 Nothing he said actually favours one hypothesis or the other (he was just talking common sense as usual), I rather expected him to come back at me but I'm just as happy to have you do a bit of OAP bashing :D

Warmest Regards Dodger
