Tonight at 9PM Embarrassing Bodies Dr Christian meets a teenager who struggled to deal with his Diabetes Diagnosis

Well why is that embarrassing? I thought this program was devoted to looking up people's bums and examining other disreputable parts of the body LOL.

No Idea just going by the guide description
here what it is (..the Clinic: Among the cases revisited in this show are a man with severe anal abscesses, a teenager struggling with a diabetes diagnosis and a lad with an overeating condition.) Thought I would flag it up.

I will definitely tune into this. I have never watched before as I find it a bit weird lol, but this will hopefully give me an insight to other teenagers dealing with diagnosis.

Ive seen one about a Diabetic kid, he got to meet a rugby player with Diabetes. Anyone know if this is new or old?

Lots of people find it difficult to admit in an image concious society they have a less than perfect body, even if the long term medical condition is invisible to everyone not in the know.

In the one ive seen they didnt mention anything about thrush. he was just embarrassed that he was different from his friends. It is totally different to the other embarrassing illnesses but i expect they put it in to raise awareness for young people.

Hopefully it will give you a insight, I have only watched the show twice myself it will be interesting to see what they have to say.

The point I was trying to make humorously was that this type of voyeuristic tabloid television program isn't really the right medium to deal with this sort of thing. Anyway I will watch it with interest.

I've always found it strange that people who won't admit things to their nearest and dearest or their own doctor are willing to discuss it on national TV. The point seems to crop up in a lot of comedians material too. It's a useful show for explaining taboo subjects though, and hopefully encouraging others to get checked out. Perhaps they should do another series about 'Socially acceptable diseases to brag about'! 😱 😉

I totally understand why some of these people go on this programme.

Some of these people have been to their GP > been given a treatment to take/do > It doesn't work > they go back to their GP > new treatment doesn't work etc etc.

So they give up and apply to this programme. Then they get sent straight to a specialist (probably private medicine 😉) and then get treated straight away and it either works or their condition improves.

It will be interesting to see what magic wand they can wave for a diabetic then.

Very funny and all, but we get sent to a specialist as Diabetics. If we didn't, we'd be doing a lot worse than we are.

I have watched the programme and know that this is the case... for example a little girl who had worts all over her feet for years and the parents were at the end of their tether so went on the show and got sent straight to a specialist. At the end of the show they showed that the treatment was starting to work and her foot looked alot better.

Unfortunately there are lots of lesser know conditions that GPs don't have a clue about but they don't send people to a specialist.

If my kid's nits wouldn't go away I would shave his head completely, problem solved! 😉

How will that poor man ever use his bottom again after that surgery? 😱 Very scary.
