My OH is always too warm, so he'd hate an electric blanket!!

I used to love mine at home years ago, so toasty and warm!

I have our heating on a lot already, it's sooooo cold some mornings here, further north in Scotland there's already a lot of snow!

We have hot water bottles too, which I do like at times alongside my very fetching totes toasties bedsocks! :D

I too am ALWAYS cold (it's a running joke in my office at work, I have 2 heaters near my desk in winter!) and have often wondered about it, am going to be asking about more thyroid testing soon actually.

My OH hates the leccie blanket too, so we have one with dual controls! Works for us! 🙂 Katie

I only put the blanket on to warm the bed before I get in, then switch it off otherwise I'd get far too hot through the night. I'm just a wimp about that initial 'eeeek' moment! 🙂

I actually prefer getting into a cool, not cold bed. Never had an electric blanket as hubby gets like a radiator in his sleep. If he's in bed much before me, as he usually is I love putting my cold feet on him when I get in. He doesn't like it for some reason. :D I don't like getting too warm in bed as it can make my feel quite nauseous and have a small window open all year round. See, I stayed in the North Alan. 😉 XXXX

Katieb Derbyshire is down South not up North! it ain't that cold yet. 🙄
I've still got the 4 tog summer duvet and the linen sheets on the bed for goodness sake.
Noticed some frost on the car the other morning and the ambient temperature was showing at minus 1, had to scrape the ice off the windows, so Autumn is on it's way, not winter.
Leccy blankets indeed, bunch of big girls blouses! :D:D😛

Come and live in Ayrshire and experience real weather!

Early Christmas Present

I just heard that I am being given an electric blanket for Christmas...will receive it early too...can't wait...being a real Southern softy now I have lost so much of my comfort blubber - losing all the weight is gonna cost me a fortune in heating & elect bills this year...

Worth it tho...hmmm nice warm bed!

🙂

I think it costs about a penny a time to heat up my blanket - well worth it to have a nice toasty bed to jump into rather than getting that chilly shock! 🙂

Ha ha Jimbo! Good point well made, but, as Northerner will testify, it gets mighty chilly in the Derbyshire Peaks and I have already had to defrost/scrape the ice off my car twice in temperatures below zero last weekend! Have visited Ayrshire many times - lovely part of the world! Best wishes, Katie

Sheesh no sign of me losing the war of southern and northern divide in the house yet still no need for heating blankets or any other kind of keeping me warm needed 😛😉

Well still no heating :D

But I put second duvet on this afternoon

I've been putting my electric heater on sporadically, but not central heating - electric will go up, but gas will plummet next bill! 🙂

or a hot water bottle and a rug 🙂

Our heating seems to be definately on, it's clicking on and off every few minutes this evening.

The electric blanket had to be set to 4 (out of 9) to pre-heat the bed last night too 😱

Mine only goes up to 3, and 1 or 2 are pointless! Might have to invest in a 9-setting, didn't know they exist! 🙂

This is an electric underblanket. 1,2 and 3 are defined in a manual as "safe" to leave on the overnight setting (12 hrs) but you are not supposed to be in the bed when it's on 7, 8, 9 - thats for pre-heat only.

We still have our summer duvet on!! Hubby is a hot sort and as good as an electric blanket lol. As for me I just hate being too hot in bed. Our winter weight duvet is always far too hot for me so I need to hop along to the shops soon and get something more suitable.
