I am one of the declining number of people on animal insulin after three unsuccessful and unpleasant attempts to switch. I am now starting to wonder if something has changed with the insulin. When Novo stopped manufacture I had enough supplies to last over six months. Once this ran out I switched to allegedly the same insulin made by Wockhardt. However my insulin requirements went up by over 15% before my BGs stabilised. Recently my dose has started creeping up again. I have heard the same comment from someone else on animal insulin (porcine). Has the insulin changed? Does anybody have any views/thoughts? No horse jokes please 🙂 .

Well there's no c-Peptide in it these days.

I built up antibodies to piggy insulin circa 1985.

Pumper Sue still uses animal in her pump. She hasn't mentioned it?

Have your hosp checked for antibodies? - the old cure before the modern insulins, used to be to swap to bovine or the other way round.
