Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi all. Can't sleep!!

Thinking of moving to East Sussex from Switzerland. Does anyone know what the diabetes support is like in that area, and whether I should continue with the very expensive medical insurance we have here, or is that area very good regarding the NHS? Any thoughts welcome. Thank you.

Hi Nannoo. Welcome 🙂

I'm afraid I know nothing of the East Sussex area regarding NHS care and efficiency but I'm sure we have a few members down that way.🙂

Are you on any medication ?

Rob

Anyone who qualifies for NHS treatment and is on medication for diabetes will get free prescriptions. However, allocation of blood glucose test strips depends on how GP interprets guidelines. The majority of people with type 2 diabetes are cared for by GP and / or practice nurses, rather than hospital clinics. So, the key factor in your care in Eastbourne / East Sussex is more likely to be GP than hospital.

Hi
I live in East Sussex, about 18 miles from Eastbourne, under the same PCT - Sussex Downs and Weald. My GP regurgitates the PCT line - no test strips for Type 2s unless taking drugs that increase insulin production or at risk of hypo and so it depends on your meds regime. Can't recommend a sympathetic/rebellious GP as don't live in Eastbourne

i live in bexhill on sea and i know only about type 1 because of my son you really need a very good GP good luck !!!

Hi there

Battle/Bexhill/Hastings has a good network of diabetic professionals and the local group is going to make it even better next year.

Good luck with your decision!!

you better talk about adult care because children care is RUBBISH!!!!!!
