I wake at 6am with serious headaches more mornings than not. These have been worse since getting Type2 diagnosis. They make me burp and wretch. They usually go by 10am after breakfast & coffee. Sometimes I don't get one for 4 or 5 days. I think they are related to diet but can't find a specific trigger. This morning I didn't have one and last night I had an early supper of spaghetti with egg and parmesan with green veg. I usually avoid pasta. I'm wondering if the headaches could be caused by not eating enough carbs in the evening, although all the advice seems to be to have the bulk of carbs earlier in the day. I am underweight but not particularly hungry. My morning BG is about 6.5 on average, HbA1c 52.
Does anyone else have this problem, or any handle on what could be the cause, or what I could try to find out?
I'd be so grateful for any suggestions....

If this is something you have only had since going on a low carb diet then you could check this link to see if it fits.
Many people do find they are more sensitive to carbs in the morning so have a low carb breakfast but otherwise keep carbs per meal about the same for the others.
Sometimes headaches are actually caused by problems with your neck if you have been sleeping awkwardly or sitting using a mouse or laptop in an uncomfortable position.

Thank you so much Leadinglights. Your advice is so much valued.

I would see your GP too. I’ve recently had headaches/migraines starting when not previously a headachey person. If you’re not normally a headachey person and have a new pattern of headaches that is persisting you need to get things checked out.

My GP was concerned enough that she sent me immediately to hospital to be seen by a consultant the same day, several times.

Not saying it is anything serious, mine isn’t either, just that there are things that need to be ruled out if this is a new persistent symptom.

Thank you everyone for replying. I've actually seen the doc and had an MRI of my head and my neck and nothing to worry about there. Which is really why I think it's diet related. Or diabetes related. The last couple of nights I have had some, about a Tablespoonful, of pasta with my evening meal, and I have not had a migraine in the morning. But that may be a fluke. I'm trying everything!
