Hello Alan
Good luck with this. You are amazing. Have made a donation to help you reach your target. Hope you get there. 🙂

Thank you for your donation! Really appreciated! 🙂

Hmm, some interesting ideas 😱

Thanks to everyone for their kind donations so far - don't let it stop you others from topping things up, it really is an excellent cause! Also, as this is National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, it is very appropriate to be supporting the DWED people in helping people with both an ED and the extra complications of juggling insulin 🙂

OK, given that I have reached my initial target of ?200, I can reveal that taking part in this year's Bath Half Marathon with be the lovely and delightful....

Miss Dee S. Hen!!!!

Some candid snaps may follow...

Unfortunately, I've decided that I won't be able to do the Bath Half Marathon this year as hoped I missed quite a lot of training at the start of the month due to illness, and with the race only two weeks away there is no chance I will be able to make it up in order to be sure that I will safely finish in one piece. My knee has been troubling me since the 'cyclist incident', which has meant fewer runs to build up my mileage, and on my run this morning I struggled to make 5 miles - which is 8 miles short :( I plan to see my physio about it next week to see what can be done about it.

I feel very guilty about this after everyone's generosity, but it's the only sensible option, I feel, as things stand. I will definitely be doing another event later in the year in order to fulfil my part of the bargain - the new outfit will certainly feature 😱 So it's more of a postponement than a cancellation.

Hi Alan, sorry you won't be able to do this one - but you're doing the right thing in not risking your health by carrying on regardless. On the upside, in a few months I may be in a financial position to contribute a bit to the pot. Keep smiling. 🙂

Sorry to hear that Alan, but only sorry that you have not been too well and don't feel up to it. Sorry to hear too that the knee is still giving you grief. Damn cyclist eh??

The money is still going to a very good cause, so that's the important bit. Well, that and you getting fit again so we don't have to wait too long until we see you in a dress again :D

Take care.
Tina

Sorry to hear you'll be missing out on the fun at Bath Alan, though quite relieved I won't be running alongside you now that I know what your outfit is!

Hope the recovery goes well, and look forward to hearing where you decide to run once you have decided which race deserves the very special 'honour' of Ms Dee S Hen :D

Thanks LeeLee. After 30 years of running these things (and the consequent advancement in age!) I always take these decisions with great reluctance, but I want to be able to run for the NEXT 30 years and to do that I need to take heed.

Thanks Tina. Yes, the money has already gone to a great cause. I know they've been working really hard this past 'Eating Disorders Awareness Week' to raise funds for the charity, so all the donations I have received will be a real help in their work.

Sorry I won't be joining you Mike. Hope your training is going much better - I'm sure you'll have a terrific day, it really is a great run! One of the best bits for me last year was getting to see the front runners go past - the race is two laps, so you will get lapped by them a few miles in. Amazing to see how fast they go! In most races the elite have practically finished before you start and you never get to see them - the presentation is usually over by the time you finish!

Keep saying her name, quickly !

(Mine's called Lynda. At UHCW.)

Northie, that's a shame, but the right thing to do. Hope your knee gets better.

I am sure we would all cough up a tiny bit more Alan if you would just wear the outift!!!! How about a photo instead of the run?:D
I would add a bit more for sure! I am not sure if this makes me a bit worryingly strange though - but just trying to make you feel a bit better!!🙂

Sorry to hear that you have had to pull out. It must be disappointing, but you have made a wise decision. I hope that you will have a speedy recovery. Take care you are a special person and keep smiling 🙂
