just had a call from my DSN at the Surgery who will be looking after me from now. She was very happy with my BGL. Told me to miss my evening insulin see if that helps with the drop after dinner. Seeing her on Friday but to call if I have any problems in the meantime. She seem nice so that’s a good start. So much I need to ask better start writing things down.

Good stuff @Spireite72 - hope the appointment goes well on Friday.

8.0 no more bran flakes and banana :(

Hope the appointment goes well on Friday. Cereals are a tricky one, lots of us can't tolerate them, I am able to tolerate a 30g portion of porridge, but lots of people can't tolerate porridge either, and I have to weigh it out and stick to the portion size otherwise I spike.

Another positive my blurry vision has improved over the last 2 days still a little blurry but much better today

What do you see as wrong with 8.0 then? Was this 2 hours after breakfast? if so there is absolutely nothing wrong with the 8.0, after 2 hours you are hoping to see a rise of no more than 2-3mmol, you only had a 1.7mmol rise, even if there was a bigger rise there are ways to try and make it work before completely writing the food off, such things are inject a bit earlier, add some fat to the meal etc xx

Thank you I didn’t realise that so got worried above 7.9 I have a better understanding now and will check the rise rather than the figure again thank you for your help.

I'm not sure if its the same for a Type 2 that is insulin dependant but for me a post meal target is up to 9, maybe @everydayupsanddowns could clarify? (sorry mate) and no bother 🙂 xx

I’m not sure if the current NICE guidance for T2 includes post-meal BG recommendations. I seem to remember I couldn’t find them when I last looked.

From memory I think the aim used to be below 8.5 by 2 hours after eating, but I would tend to agree with @Kaylz that your rise seems to have been reasonably small.

I know some forum members have aimed to keep levels within very close boundaries and suggested that readings over 7.5 may be where damage can start, but I’m not sure how true I think that is. Non-D people wearing CGM devices often show quite significant variation in BG through the day.

Obviously, the lower BG variation you can achieve, but I am also a strong believer in quality of life, flexibility of approach and aiming for long term success rather than being a slave to the illusion of perfection.

This is all great and giving me more information to ask the DSN I’ve already learned a lot but realise how much I still have to learn. Couldn’t do this without you guys/girls.google is great but end up scaring myself half the time.

Dr Google is never a good idea!! :D xx

The NICE guidelines for post meal (2hrs) is 8.5 for type 2’s

Interestingly my waking levels are always higher than my post breakfast ones at the moment.

My GP told me it was 10! 🙄

@Amigo thanks for clearing that up xx
