Spoke with my DSN this morning.
BGL's
- she's seen all my recent BGL's and thinks I'm not doing too bad.
Tresiba reductions
She agrees with all my recent Tresiba reductions and agrees with me wanting to reduce it a bit more in a day or so depending on how things are. Just watch for the hypos. She thinks that I am having a bit too much insulin somewhere. I told her how worried I am that my Tresiba just keeps going down but she said not to let it worry me - just relax.
Carb counting and eating out
I said about my carb counting that it's very difficult when I eat out or have a takeaway - she said all you can do is the best you can on these occasions. I reminded her how I do my carb counting at home ie looking on packets, carbs and cals, nutracheck and that I also weigh some things.
I said about my episode last night re having an Indian takeaway and that after eating I did several finger prick tests (until I decided it was bedtime) to see how my BGL was doing - they didn't seem to go high like I thought takeaway food always did and instead stayed the same until they got to 4mmol (grre) at bedtime but she said not to worry and that my BGL's hadn't altered because I must've done the right amount of insulin.
Bedtime BGL's below or above 8mmol
- she said I'm doing the right thing at bedtime ie if it's below 8mmol have a snack of 10 - 20g of carbs with no insulin but if I wanted more ie 30g then just bolus for 10g then 20g would be like a booster to hopefully stop me dropping in the night. If BGL is above 8mmol have the snack with insulin but if I'm worried about taking insulin at bedtime maybe tall the bolus adviser that I'm having less carbs then I will get a smaller dose of insulin.
Once again she to me not to let Diabetes rule my life (- me obviously within reason)
