It comes to something when you have to make an appointment to be ill.
Thursday I started getting pain in the top of my jaw . So hardly slept even after taking plenty of pain killers Friday when I woke the side of my face started to swell so I called the dr ... And guess what no dr on the premesis . I was told if I wanted to see the dr I will have to call Monday morning to see if they can fit me in , what a joke , i woke this morning and the right side of my face looked like the elephant man and I can hardly open my eye ,,, I found some old antibiotics yesterday and have had about five now and it still seems to be getting worse and it is also making me feel very drained , has anyone else ever had the same or something similar ?

Could be an abscess. It may be really bad idea to treat it yourself, an infection in your face/mouth can be quite serious if left for too long. Even if the antibiotics you've been taking aren't out of date, they may be the wrong type for this bug. Ring the out-of-hours service in your area.

Ok ill dial 101 now .. And I bet they do one of two things . Either say 1; you need to go to the drs or 2; go to a&e lol will yet you know in a few mins lol

Ouch Darren, sounds like an abcess. If you can't get to a doc, can you get an emergency dentists appointment? Dentists can prescribe antibiotics, and may be able to treat the problem if it is under a tooth. Don't leave it another day.

Still on phone 20 mins now been put on hold five times so far aaarrrggghhhh lol

To go with my swollen face lol ... Still on the phone 32 mins now. 10 time on hold .. This is a joke

Guess what 35 mins and 35second ,,, diagnosis , get this lol >>>> call nhs direct on 08454647 . Can you belive it

dentist, not doctor? hot salty mouth wash?

Sounds like the sort of problem to consult a dentist about, rather than a doctor. Dentists can prescribe antibiotics for dental problems - which typically need different antibiotics to common ear and lung infections, for example.

So, have you been to a dentist recently? If so, phone them. If not, phone any dentist and listen for emergency / out of hours advice.

In the meantime, gargling / swilling with hot salty water and spitting it out might ease the pain a bit and may even treat infection a bit, plus won't don't any harm, as lomng as you don't swallow, and don't scald yourself - check temperature before taking into your mouth.

Ridiculous :(

Darren, do you have a local out of hours doctors service? In our area, if you phone your GP out of hours, there is a recorded message giving the number to ring for the Urgent Care Centre in the next town. You should be given an appointment at a similar place. NHS Direct will waste your time.

I really think you might need a DENTIST, rather than a doctor, Darren w.

Can you belive it

Sadly yes.

A mate of mine was bitten by a dog on a sunday evening. It was deep enough to draw blood, so he went to A&E. They gave him an injection.

A week later he got a letter from his GP admonishing him for going to A&E. He wrote back asking what the procedure should be for a Sunday evening but got no reply.

Omg they said it is because the swelling is moving up my face and is running up to my eye that is not a dental emergency anymore it's a medical one because the swelling is going toward my brain ... My heart is beating like a drum now

To be honest any medical attention at this point wiuld be welcome

Darren -hope your ok- have heartlands got an A and E DEPT?- OR could you get to the QE

Heartlands is the closest to me . Don't like going to a&e been in there so many times I know them all by first name lol ,, and I was right about it was gonna be drs or hospital .!! Typical .

Your best to get seen ASAP you'll be there and back before you know it!

Hope you go on ok Darren
