Have had a bad couple of weeks not sleeping, hardly able to breath etc. It got so bad at the weekend that on monday I phoned the docs and got an emergency appointment, when the doc examined me she said that baisically I was drowning in my own body fluids because with my aortic stenosis and the Diltiazem that the cardiologst had put me on my lungs were no able to clear themselves of the fluid build up.The doc cut the tabs down to 2 a day insted of 3 and added Ferusamide water tablets and this seems to have sorted the problem out and I am now feeling much better. The doc has also written to the cardiac surgeon to see if they can bring my opp date forward a bit . So fingers crossed they can

Sending very best wishes to you malturn, this must be very distressing for you!

Thanks Amigo and grovesy yes it has been dificult the worst was every time I went to bed and lay down I was gasping and wheezing and barely able to breath. Even sitting up was bad so I simply had to get up and walk around fo several minutes to get some relief. The result was I was getting very little sleep.

Sorry to hear this Mal, hope they manage to bring your appointment forward.

That is scary. I hope you feel better soon malturn.

Sorry to hear about you feeling so unwell, hope they can sort an earlier appointment for you take care.

It sounds a nightmare.

Poor you, Malturn. I hope you get that op asap.

How awful for you, I hope you feel better soon, take care x

Nightmare Mal. Is your GP checking regularly to make sure fluid isn't building up again?

Mal sorry to hear about this must be a constant worry, I hope the op comes sooner rather then later x

Sending you my best wishes. So glad you made that emergency appointment. Hope you get your Op soon.

That must have been really worrying for you malturn. Hope you can soon get the op and life improves.

How frightening for you Malturn, I'm glad to hear the medication has helped you to feel a bit better. Fingers crossed they can move you up the list a bit quicker.

That sounds awful, malturn :( Here's hoping you get what you need soon and that things improve.

Thanks everyone. The tablets are certainly making a big difference. I can now go to bed and lie down to sleep without feeling as if i'm drowning and can breath without sounding like someone with a very wet whistle stuck in the throat. The doc called me yesterday afternoon to check to see how I was feeling now and said that if thing started to get bad again to ring her straight away.

Glad it is helping.

That must have been awful for you as well as worrying. Glad your doc was able to help. . I hope you don't have to wait too much longer for your op.

Oh Malturn that is awful. I hope your dr. manages to bring your op really soon.

Must be hard work peeing all that water out on the Frusemide tablets, Malturn. It's a sign that you need that new valve soonest. It's good that the medication is helping, but you don't want to be on it for too long, you'll get potassium depleted. Eat bananas.

Best of luck that you hear soon.
