Driving License renewal

I have just received my new driving license, which is again valid for three years.
I vaguely remember that there was a move to increase the length of these licenses to ten years.
Does anyone else remember this?

I don't recall anything about extending to 5 years.

No it was 10 years my friend, only if diabetes was controlled & no eye hypo awareness issues.

Yes I remember the 10 year suggestion. I really didn’t like the idea personally. A LOT can change in 10 years for a PWD, and while the 3 year renewal is a bit of a faff, I am glad that I’m under regular review personally.

Mine doesn't expire till next year and I was surprised about that - yes it's 3 years BUT I'll be 70 this year - OTOH I lost my C1 a few years ago when they suddenly caught up with banning us lot who passed their tests decades before they brought that rule in. I was annoyed about that but in truth the only thing I've ever even tried to tow in my life was my first husband's car whose battery was flat!

Got that wrong, form arrived yesterday licence expires beginning of June.

It certainly was all very straightforward and my licence was back within a week.
As others have said it is good to be monitored regularly for driving for our safety and that of others.
