Driving licence renewal

Hi All

I haven't been on for quite a while, and hope everyone is doing ok!

I wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction - my 3 year licence is due to expire in August this year, and I don't know whether the DVLA will contact me about this, or if I just need to fill in the form again that I filled in originally?

Could someone help me - I did have a look through the DVLA website, but it seems focussed on letting them know when you are first diagnosed, and not renewing.

Hi Emma, you will have a form come through the post. If nothing arrives after 1st July then give them a ring.

They normally send then out 3 months before expiry, if it doesn't arrive very soon I think you'd better ring the 'Medical Branch' of DVLA to ask about it.

I have just posted mine back to them last Friday. I received it the day before. It will expire in late July. That makes it two months from receipt of letter to expiry.

Oh, OK - perhaps it is 2 months now, although I'm pretty sure I had mine in March - due to expire in June, received the renewed one in May.

It didn't expire until 28 June, but for some reason they sent me a new paper one as well with a printed note to say I wouldn't need it and so I should destroy it before the old one expired! Batty. But there you go!
