Downloading meter readings

just downloaded software, and ordered cable, says 14days, not bad for a freebie! Not sure if the software will work on my Mac at home tho?? I hope it does!

From what I've read Bayer don't make software for the Mac (not many manufacturers do - they must think all diabetics only use Windows!). If you have VMWare you could run Windows in a virtual machine and use it that way. Or you might be able to get some 3rd party software.

Hi
If you have an intel duo you can run both mac and windows platforms.
Using the virtual mac software is very slow and exceedingly memory hungry.

In the longrun it could be cheaper to buy a refurbished wintel machine.

I don't know about your recent order, but lifescan ( ultra machines) ask if you want serial or usb connection and send the appropriate driver.

Grrrrrrrrrrr!

Thanks guys, not surprising really, is it!

I've no interest in running windows on this mac, I realise you can.

I may have to put it on my work slaptop, might be easier in the long run?!

If anyone see's any Mac software let me know!! Please

Just remembered that www.diabetesdaily.co.uk have a Tools section where you can upload your meter readings to their website. Think it runs using some sort of Java interface (but maybe uses ActiveX). Not sure if it's Mac compatible, but always another way to investigate downloading/uploading your readings.

If I spot anything else I'll let you know.

Cheers Nivz, appreciate it.🙂

When I get the cable I may just plug the cable in and see what happens, is there a chance it would download a text file automatically? That I can "play" with ?? Maybe if I can look at the settings of the com ports, but as its usb probably doesn't work like comm ports do?? I'm not sure I know what I'm talking about!!

Cheers anyway!

Found one more that is Java based so you'd need to compile it, but it does support Bayer. Have a look at http://ggc.sourceforge.net/

The USB cables are actually USB to Serial cables and most meters seem to use standard RS232 protocol, but each uses different codes for start of message, data and end of message, etc. I've been investigating this a lot recently and am 99% of the way there with the OneTouch UltraEasy and about 20% of the way with the OneTouch UltraSmart. These are the only meters I have but I've been reading up on how to communicate with AccuCheck meters and Optium Xceed too.

I'm amazed no-one has written a Mac app that can do this yet!

Thanks again Nivz, I'll let you know how I get on,

I'm not surprised no one has written it for Mac, they just don't care about us!! And always argue you can run windows on Mac!!
