hi everyone, I'm going out to eat with friends today but that means eating dinner roughly 2 hours later than I would normally. Im on a bolus basal regime and I'm wondering if taking the rapid acting homolog before my later meal would mean it overlaps with my basal that i guess i should take around the same time and cause hypoglycaemia? I normally eat around 6:30 and take levemir for a basal at around 10 before bed but tonight i'll eat around 8:30. So should i still take the levemir at 10 or is it all fine?
thank you!

That's the point of basal bolus insulin regime - you have your basal at roughly the same time each day, then have your bolus whenever you eat. Jus check your blood glucose level before bed as usual - it's likely to be a bit higher than usual.

ok! i thought it should be ok but was a bit worried, thanks very much!

I would still do my levemir at 10, but just keep an eye out when I went to bed. Some people don't like to go to bed with active bolus insulin, if you do go to bed before the 4 hours is up and you are a bit high, I personally wouldn't correct.
