Did anyone watch this? Have caught up with it today. Was not over impressed, not sure I would want a slimmed down version of me popping up on the TV screen while I am watching TV and snacking, to remind me I mustn't snack !! Had hoped it would give people sound advice on how to make sustainable lifestyle changes.

I just caught a snatch of it - pancake or croissants for breakfast - oh dear.
I turned it off.
On the way I eat I don't feel hungry and so don't eat for 12 hours after a meal - but there is no wonder people snack if they are triggering the release of insulin by their food choices.

Same here i eat low carb and go daily from 7pm the night before to 12 midday the following day no problem at all without hunger. Weight steadily going down and bs in normal range now.

I could only mange to watch to the first ad break, and gave up on it.

12 hours?
That is a severe eating disorder to many people?
My daughter deals with many such issues
Have you discussed that with your HCP?

Really? I wouldn't know.
I don't have a HCP worth the time of day never mind a serious conversation on any aspect of my health.

I don't think it's unusual not to eat for 12 hours, when I was at work I would have breakfast at 7am and wouldn't then have dinner until 8pm, sometimes I had lunch not because I was hungry but that is just what people did.

I am guessing you meant going without food during waking hours and not overnight 'fasting'

A severe eating disorder? Think that wording's a bit strong. I sometimes do that intentionally (but going overnight), not eating the following day until about 16 hours after my last meal the previous day. It is no effort, I don't feel hungry, and doesn't harm me at all, in fact it does me good. My son, a strapping, healthy, 28 year old, sometimes skips lunch at work because he'd rather get on and do what needs to be done that day, and he certainly doesn't have a severe eating disorder. I have also, as I think other people have mentioned in other threads, sometimes literally forgotten to eat at lunchtime, then waited until my evening meal as I haven't been hungry because of a healthily filling breakfast. I don't think that fits the description of a 'severe eating disorder'. Sadly I don't think the HCPs I have come across since my diabetes diagnosis have enough knowledge on the subject of me, my life, and my diabetes, to be able to offer any valuable insight. Proof of that is the fact I've brought my HbA1c down from 53 to 41 in nine months through diet and exercise, no medication, which they insisted I should take.

Could I suggest we take a little care when using terms like "eating disorder" and "severe eating disorder" which should be reserved for those with a properly diagnosed clinical condition.

Too my mind (and to anybody who has come into direct contact with somebody with a severe eating disorder), anybody eating different stuff to a different pattern to me only has an eating disorder when it leads to more widespread problems. Otherwise they are just different.

Everybody eats to a different pattern.
However people do feel hunger at some stage, so, "never feeling hungry", and only eating when it is a mealtime, which will give a maximum of two meals a day, is a condition which is worthy of being noted and discussed with a HCP, even if just to dismiss the question. Loss of appetite can be caused by several things.
My daughter is a psychiatric nurse on a children's ward that specialises in eating disorders, but she has rarely come across anyone that has had a complete and total loss of appetite. The other recognised issue with never feeling hungry is never feeling full, so under eating is a possibility, as is over eating.
Perhaps the term was taken in the wrong context, however I won't comment on matters of this nature on this site in the future.
