All you do is ask your GP for a change of clinic. It's your right to go to which ever clinic you so wish even if out of county. Make sure you tell your GP why you want the change i.e., pump.

It sounds to me as if your present consultant hasn't a clue about pumps so to hide the fact she just denies people the chance to have a better quality of life.
 
Do you have half unit pens and if not ask for them.... it's a Novopen Echo.... they will then need to change your prescription to cartridges instead of disposable pens. Did you split your Levemir dose morning and evening so that you could adjust it specifically to reduce the risk of night time hypos?

I am not on Insulin but I have been using the free version of mySugr for a few years, the only thing I have noticed that not been able to transfer the record to laptop to print off, that I could do when I first started using.
 
You would have done it on your DAFNE course - the article which @everydayupsanddowns gave you the link to was jointly written by two people one of whom had done DAFNE at his hospital and the other a BERTIE based course at hers. (I know this cos one of em is me!)

In our county there are 3 different Hospital Trusts and different CCGs depending on the exact location of the GP surgery at which you are registered. I live in a town called Bedworth so on the face of it I'd come under Nuneaton, so Warwickshire. But we're still registered with a GP in Coventry - so Cov & Rugby CCG. When we get referred to a hospital we get a 'Choose & Book' letter giving us the choices of hospitals in Cov, Rugby, Nuneaton, Solihull and Warwick. Solihull comes under Birmingham. If we lived a mile after turning right 100 yds towards Coventry from our front door, we'd be classed as North Warwickshire and therefore get the choice of not only Nuneaton hosp and Cov hosp, but also various ones in Leicestershire too!

Is the basal test where you only do your background insulin and eat no carbs for 3 days? I have already tried that a few times (once with a cgsm, but that was when I was living in Scotland and with a different consultant) I ended up having to do corrections. I put my levemir up by 1 unit and I had really bad hypos. I'm really sensitive to that 1 unit!
maybe there is another background insulin that is somewhere in between levemir and degledec?

Accuchek Aviva Expert is good. It has several time blocks and you put in your personal ratio for each one. You also need a 1/2 unit pen.

yes I did but I would still get bad hypos at night. I've heard about the half unit pen, I would have tried that but I am on Degledec instead now which I prefer. I think I'll definitely try and get the half unit pen for my fiasp though

I had no idea that I could do that! I've always thought that I've had attend my local clinic. Thank you so much for this information, I'm definitely going to do that

Surname, Chapman. Husband bought a Triumph Trophy 1200 motorbike and we joined the internet forum thereof, when he adopted the name Trophychap. (In the Black Country where I hail from, you are either a chap or a wench, it is merely a matter of what sex you are born rather than any indication of social standing or the amount of ££££ you happen to own or earn or anything else. Of course as the centuries go back there were serving wenches but merely being female does not infer a servile life. Just as well in my case!) He subsequently bought a Honda Blackbird, but stayed with the name and I spose it must have been then-ish when I originally joined this forum as I used that alibi rather than my more personal one I've had since i was 7 !

Hi, I know you posted this ages ago but I just wanted to give a little update and thank you and @trophywench (and everyone else who gave me advice!) because I'm now with a new consultant and on a waiting list for a pump! I don't think that I would be so close to getting one now otherwise so thank you everyone so much for your help 🙂 <3
