All you do is ask your GP for a change of clinic. It's your right to go to which ever clinic you so wish even if out of county. Make sure you tell your GP why you want the change i.e., pump. How do you change clinic? I thought that you can only attend the one in your county?
I am not on Insulin but I have been using the free version of mySugr for a few years, the only thing I have noticed that not been able to transfer the record to laptop to print off, that I could do when I first started using.ok, I'll give mySugr another try!
You might like to have a look at DIABETES:M …Hi there! I've been diabetic (type 1) for 18 years and I still really struggle with calculating the correct insulin doses. I currently use the freestyle libre app to track my BG and doses. I tried mySugr but I didn't like it and don't want to pay for an app..... does anyone use any others or recommend any?
I also like carbs and cals but find that some of the foods I like aren't on there!
Sorry if I've missed some of your post, but could a 1/2unit pen help a little more?so do you think I should do what I was going to do (ask for a new consultant)? But you don't have to answer that!
Is the basal test where you only do your background insulin and eat no carbs for 3 days? I have already tried that a few times (once with a cgsm, but that was when I was living in Scotland and with a different consultant) I ended up having to do corrections. I put my levemir up by 1 unit and I had really bad hypos. I'm really sensitive to that 1 unit!
maybe there is another background insulin that is somewhere in between levemir and degledec?
Accuchek Aviva Expert is good. It has several time blocks and you put in your personal ratio for each one. You also need a 1/2 unit pen.Hi there! yes I did but I would still get bad hypos at night. I've heard about the half unit pen, I would have tried that but I am on Degledec instead now which I prefer. I think I'll definitely try and get the half unit pen for my fiasp thoughDo you have half unit pens and if not ask for them.... it's a Novopen Echo.... they will then need to change your prescription to cartridges instead of disposable pens. Did you split your Levemir dose morning and evening so that you could adjust it specifically to reduce the risk of night time hypos?
I had no idea that I could do that! I've always thought that I've had attend my local clinic. Thank you so much for this information, I'm definitely going to do thatAll you do is ask your GP for a change of clinic. It's your right to go to which ever clinic you so wish even if out of county. It sounds to me as if your present consultant hasn't a clue about pumps so to hide the fact she just denies people the chance to have a better quality of life.
@trophywench what is BERTIE? Also I love your screen name!
Bertie is one of the names given the carb counting courses.@trophywench what is BERTIE? Also I love your screen name!
Hi, I know you posted this ages ago but I just wanted to give a little update and thank you and @trophywench (and everyone else who gave me advice!) because I'm now with a new consultant and on a waiting list for a pump! I don't think that I would be so close to getting one now otherwise so thank you everyone so much for your help 🙂All you do is ask your GP for a change of clinic.
