Do You Eat A Lot Of Frozen Food ?

I don’t think I’d say we eat a lot of frozen food, but there are always some staples and ingredients (frozen peas, edamame, meat alternatives. Even as @helli says things like little cubes of smushed up ginger from an ice-cube tray or whatever. Plus garden produce like stewed apple, and leftover / bulk cooked meals

Is coley " coalfish " ?
I had never heard it called that, but googling suggests they are the same, also that coley and pollock are closely related (both members of cod family) but not the same.

The coley we get these days (fresh, yellow-stickered) seems to be a bit bigger and thicker than the pollock fillets from supermarket freezer sections, which is often labelled 'white fish' on the bag, pollock under ingredients.

Jamie Oliver used the frozen pollock for a fish curry to good effect.

We eat frozen veg, fish and fruit, we always have. I freeze meat too. Currently have two legs of lamb in freezer!!! as they were half price at Easter. Don't know if it's because I'm Welsh but I adore lamb lol. Frozen veg has the same nutrients as fresh and as hubby likes more veg than me it's economical too

We always have a big bag of frozen fruit at least.
Peas (very good for you), and sweetcorn and mixed veg. We bulk by meat from a local wholesale butcher every 1-2 months and live off that.
I make a lot of batch soup, so there's plenty of that for a quick lunch.
I love chicken nuggets (child of the 90s) so normally some of those but as other have said its mainly fresh / left overs we freeze.
And in summer ice pops for the child, and maybe the odd little moons <3

Our freezer and fridge freezer is full of stuff that we have frozen either because we have not got round to eating it or because we need to keep it until we are ready to use it. We often shop at Costco and the big packs of mince and chicken mean that it needs to be frozen until it is needed.

Always thought peas and sweetcorn and carrots were no go

Yes the frozen meat is fine I think ?

In a stir fry or curry or casserole it tastes the same as fresh ?

A no go? Why?

Frozen peas are full of fibre and protein, very easy source of protein. Low sugar. Vitamin b and c.

We always buy bags of frozen peas and fresh meat chicken mince, and gourmet sausage that's from Waitrose which we buy in bulk as our Waitrose is 50 mile round trip we freeze bread, I have now started eating Hi Lo from Sainsbury's as Waitrose have stopped selling there low carb bread, there is a loads of ice cream which my daughter and her boyfriend buy but never seams to bother eating, and we also freeze home made pies and left over meals.

It's a good idea when you are looking at what others eat to note their type of diabetes, shown on the left of the post. Type 1s and others on insulin do not need to restrict carbs in the same way as those Type 2s who are not taking insulin - I don't think you are?

Even so, cutting out carrots, peas and sweetcorn completely might be more drastic than you need. You do need to be aware of the size of your portion, particularly sweetcorn (clue in the name!) and test to see if it affects your BG levels too much, and then reduce it if necessary.

I don't cut them out at all now I know they are OK

I thought peas and carrots and sweetcorn were not ideal but after reading the expert book from the course they ain't
But not unlimited quantities! You do need to check your portion size.

My Sainsbury's doesn't stock hi low , its annoying

So I just eat wholemeal in the lowest carb level I find in the shop

I lobbed a big handful of frozen peas in our tea tonight, divided between 4 people. No need for me to allow account for them in my insulin dose calculation - they just sort of rolled with the meal 🙂
