So guys,

When I went into DKA a few weeks back, my white blood cells went really high and then dropped down very very low. Would this be normal going through DKA? Did anyone here have a similar experience? My red blood cells stayed steady and so did my platelets, which was great.

Thanks guys.

I'm guessing that's common, but it's something that would only be noticed with the right blood tests. (This suggests a high white blood cell count is expected: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3638300/). It doesn't seem anything to be worried about, anyway: DKA is (with any luck) a one-time event, and blood cells of all kinds are normally replaced.

When you’ve got DKA, the last thing to worry about is your white cell count. It’s your biochemistry that’s doctors care about, because that’s what kills you untreated.
