Really? Most people over the age of 50 have diverticulitis to one degree
Diverticulosis is when there are diverticula in your bowel, but they're not causing any symptoms.
Most people will get some diverticula as they get older, but most people will not get any symptoms.
I'm not sure how I've been misleading. I've said exactly what you quoted from the NHS page.
Diverticulosis is not the same as Diverticulitis (although it is confusing) and, many would consider that saying most people over 50 (rather than many) have it, suggests they have symptoms which maybe scary for anyone approaching 50.I'm not sure how I've been misleading. I've said exactly what you quoted from the NHS page.
A family member was put onto amitriptyline (well dose increased as they were already on it for other reasons) as an off book use that’s had great results. It definitely helped. Perhaps a conversation to be had with your dr. Going low carb more or less sorted the issue after that.Any fellow suffers out there? only just been dx a few weeks its a bitch to have and u become well how can i put this but good friends with your toilet
wondered if you are on meds for it and if they work well for u
I apparently have diverticulosis too and the research I did at the time (2018) suggested it was outdated advice for most people to avoid nuts and seeds. I certainly wasn’t told to avoid them and as I am low carb much of my fibre comes from them. So far I’ve had no problems with it. You obviously have a different experience I appreciate. Most people over the age of 50 have diverticulitis to one degree or another so you are not alone. When I was diagnosed, I was told to avoid foods with seeds and nuts. Basically anything small that can get lodged in the little pockets in the bowel.
I love nuts but I can definitely tell when I've eaten them and it's a trade off between pain and the pleasure of eating them![]()
