Most people over the age of 50 have diverticulitis to one degree or another so you are not alone. When I was diagnosed, I was told to avoid foods with seeds and nuts. Basically anything small that can get lodged in the little pockets in the bowel.

I love nuts but I can definitely tell when I've eaten them and it's a trade off between pain and the pleasure of eating them :D

thankyou

I’ve managed with it for years using probiotics and peppermint oil capsules. Lots of painful episodes and sometimes the need for antibiotics when they were infected.
However, since going low carb/ high fats I’ve had fewer pain episodes, no infections and I’m beginning to think that bread and grains may have been a factor. Nuts and veg are now main sources of fibre.

Really?
The NHS page says

Diverticulosis is when there are diverticula in your bowel, but they're not causing any symptoms.

Most people will get some diverticula as they get older, but most people will not get any symptoms.

Which is not the same thing.

I appreciate this is not any help for you or @gail2 but your phrase could be frighteningly misleading for others over 50.
