Definitely, keep your sharps box for sharps and minimise the amount of other item and plastics you place in it.I put mine (Tresiba and Fiasp) in the bin but I wonder if the plastic lids could at least be recycled.
The sharps bin has a part that is for unscrewing the needle from the pen, so that you don’t need to put the cap back on if you’re at home.I put mine (Tresiba and Fiasp) in the bin but I wonder if the plastic lids could at least be recycled.

This will mean your sharp box lasts longer, needs collecting less often, saves NHS money on the boxes and your council money for the collection and allows at least some parts to be recycled.
I recycle my NovoRapid pens, https://www.pen-cycle.co.ukMorning all. I keep forgetting to ask my lovely diabetes nurses what is the best way to dispose of used insulin pens. Can they be recycled or do you just black bin them?
This is an old thread. But even back then, asking to change to reusable pens would have been a good suggestion. And now even more so (the reusable Novonordisk pens are a bit fancier now).I recycle my NovoRapid pens, https://www.pen-cycle.co.uk
