when checking labels

I discovered there is caramel added to diet cola and cola. I had a diet cola thinking I'd be fine nope it bloody spiked me from 6.3 to 11.4.

Sipped water for awhile because of it. it took about 3 hours to go back down too.
 
The Caramel used E150 is not the same thing you're thinking: is't a concentrate of dark colour.
Having said that the problem with these fizzy drink could be the Aspartame content
