Hi All

Does anyone know where you can purchase Glucose Tablets at a cheap price?

I get through them quite alot.

Usually have some given to me when I do DUK events but they have run out now.

The cheap individual packs cost 49p and I use 4 tablets at a time to deal with a hypo before my intake of carbos.

Any recommendations of websites, shops etc would be much appreciated.

Glucose tablets

I buy mine in Asda at Leamington Spa, at present I am paying 36p

Hi Pingu, the cheapist option is to have a word with your diabetes team. You should not be needing lots of glucose tablets. So something is not quite right somewhere.
But you can buy Glucotabs from independant chemists and other shops too.
They are ?2.95 for a tub of 50.

Any sweets will - as long as the packet states how much sugar in 100g, you can work out how many sweets make 10g, for example. Personally, I use Co-Op children's jelly sweets, 3 packs, each 100g, for ?1. Not just for correcting hypoglycaemia, but also to regular input of glucose duing extended trekking / running / biking / canoeing etc.

I saw the tubs in Boots a while ago, but have not seen them since. Tried a few other places, but not been able to find them again :(

I suppose I am using more than normal is I am on an insulin pump and started to do different exercise classes. It is taking a while to get my Temporary Basal rates right and food intake.

But generally I think it is a bit of a rip off. Just checked in Sainsburys 57p a packet. If there are 12 in a pack and you use 4 tablets a time I think a cheaper solution would be a good idea.

cheaper option

Like 300g of sweets for ?1, for example... (see post #4) all it takes is one calculation of sugar content and you're away.

I'm beginning to sound like a skinflint with cheaper sources of glucose and pencil cases as cheaper options for carrying injection kits...
