As far as I understood it, the named driver had to be present for the car to be driven? My cousin claims DLA and has a mobility car and her husband told me he is not allowed to drive it unless she is with him.

Hi newbs, that's interesting. I've taken photos today of the said car of him going to work in it. Im like miss Marple lol. Im going to report him next Monday im gathering evidence! He drives it to and from campuses and claims 45p a mile at work. Does his employer need to know this i wonder?

Thanks Hobie, he makes my skin crawl my sister can't get her £ back and she said i should let it go but I can't he uses people and abusing the system

She claims for arthritis as far as i know. It seems so unfair that the system can be abused this way.

If she was it would have to be pretty severe, I've had arthritis in both knees, bone on bone, for 12 years and never claimed a penny, couldn't even get surgery because even now at 62, I'm too young.

I think that if you have any suspicion about fraudulent claims the best thing to do is phone the number mentioned earlier. Don't offer any information, let them ask what they need to know.

I have a very close friend who shopped a relative after feeling guilty for years about even thinking of reporting them. The authorities will know what to do, they don't like giving our money away, usually.

Hi grajo isn't that dreadful you have debilitating arthritis and you haven't claimed and too young to have surgery. Im sorry to hear this. The woman in question is 66 and claims and she works in a shop part time on her feet! Picks up her grandchild and takes to and from school everyday but not in the motabilitycar that she has been given as that vehicle is with her son it beggars belief. Part of me feels guilty for shopping them but a bigger part of me knows its notfair, the chap has no disability and is a teacher earning 33k its immoral.

Never feel guilty. If there is an injustice the powers that be will sort it out and then there could be more money available for those who really need it.

I've consider myself very lucky because my wife's firm's new health insurance provider has agreed to pay for surgery on pre existing conditions. She pays tax on the health insurance "perk" so it's not exactly free and I'm making the most of it.

Roll on November 25th when I have the first of my new knees replaced and with a knee with a 30 year warrantee. The other one will be done in March next year, if I'm a good boy and do all the physio which I will definitely be doing.

Thank you for your kind words. Im glad you have your wife's health insurance. I have just taken out insurance as i got my fingers burnt after putting a disc out in my back so badly it touched the sciatic nerve continually giving me horrific nerve pain, so bad i paid to have a discectomy after paying for 4 injections the total cost was £12,000 savings gone, but i am now nerve pain free. Im having physio to build up my core strength and i have pain in my lower back so I can't straighten up but time will help. Arthritis is miserable god luck with your operation
