Slow cooked beef brisket.
Brisket (from local butcher) seasoned and sealed in large pan. Put in slow cooker.
Mushrooms and onions (from local green grocer) fried and put in slow cooker.
A couple of tea spoons of lazy garlic (couldn't get fresh).
500ml of beef stock (always have stock pots in my cupboard)
A good slug of worcestershire sauce and cook on low for 7-8 hours.
Looking forward to dinner tonight.

Can I come round? :D

I'll dig out my pearls. :D

Snap, we are having brisket too! It’s the second half of a lump I cooked last week though. Just been to the butchers and bought some rolled pork shoulder for the weekend, which I'll also slow cook with stock and veg.

I don't think I've had brisket since I was a teenager and my Mum used to do it - love it! 🙂

Ohh Stitch that sounds absolutely delicious! For me it's a corned beef and mushroom omelette with green beans and potatoes so no where near as mouth watering! Could you send me a wee portion please? As I won't make it there in 6 hours :( xx

I don't think we had brisket in our house. We used have corned beef hash though.

Guess what...?! I’ve got brisket on the go, too! A greatly underrated cut of beef. On the hob slowly cooking away. Browned the joint all over in a frying pan, browned onions and mushrooms, deglazed the pan...I never add stock, then in a pan with a carrot, bay leaves, peppercorns, water, covered tightly then left on a low heat to do its thing. Strain the liquid and reduce and it’s a delicious gravy. One pot cooking at its simplest! Serving with roasted veg later. Can’t wait!

I love brisket and pork and lamb shoulder. What annoys me is that these cuts used to be cheap but since those poncy TV chefs started showcasing how to cook these cheaper, slow cooking joints, the price has gone up dramatically. Why can't the rich people stick to prime cuts and leave these once underrated but oh so delicious cuts for those of us with limited income and more sense!

Well I have to say that was delicious. I thickened the stock up at the end with some corn flour, Trev had mash and I had veggies. Lovely filling dinner.

We went veggie with what we could find. Things are a bit bonkers in some supermarkets, but smaller local shops seem to be better stocked. We have tins of tomatoes, bean and some pasta. We have food so will not starve.

OH and I went for a long walk this afternoon, so I had a moment of madness and put dumplings on top of ours. Haven’t done that for years, I must say they were delicious.

I might do dumpling next time.
