I measure my rice in tablespoons to count the carbs so simply dish out some rice and count the carbs in that, then estimate the rest. If you test after eating you can always correct. It’s not a problem. I find Indian takeaway more predictable than Chinese.

How many carbs on average is in say one tablespoon then. Curry wise I would have a royal Naga I think so quite spicy.

I have one of those plastic tablespoon measures that come in a set (teaspoon, tablespoon, half a teaspoon) and 2 slightly rounded tablespoons is 10g carbs. Note the ‘slightly’ - not heaped up high but not sliced off flat, if that makes sense.

Most of the curries are simple to guess. Just watch out for any added lentils in the sauce or chunks of potato. Generally there’s not many carbs to add on. If a sauce has a lot of yoghurt in, I add on a few grams for that. The veg side dishes are easy too - again, watch for potato and pulses.

Umm you guys are making me want curry with veggies and some cauliflower rice . I only just ate dinner , my fiancée wanted takeaway so I played it safe and went to get a steak salad bowl with some cheese slices and that tends to fill me up for the rest of the night. I struggle with dinners but I do have this cook book coming , not sure if it’s a good one or not but I need more ideas then what I been having every night aswell , like I love curries usually with rice but I’ll be replacing mine with cauliflower rice . Sounds yummies

I'm a massive curry fan, haven't had a takeaway since my diagnosis as not sure on how to work out amount of carbs in takeaway curry.

Will depend on ingredients. I dont weigh takeaways as know from past experience how much to bolus for each dish, as tend to stick with same restaurant everytime as we enjoy food there, so cant give exact explanation.

At first better to be cautious with bolus dose until you work it all out, after all can correct highs later on.
