Last week I was informed that my local pharmacy could not obtain my lancets until January next, they said their last four orders had not been filled. I was told by my GP surgery to go around other pharmacies to see if anyone else could fill the prescription order and discovered that there appears to be a general problem with many lancets and that other pharmacies were actively trying to assist their customers to fill their prescription. I could not get my lancets (Lifescan Verio ) but was offered a box of other lancets which I could use on an old machine.
The pharmacy concerned offer to reserve these for me until Monday evening on getting a prescription for same. My GP has promised to get me a prescription ready for collection on Monday but in the meantime I wondered if this was a problem in my area East of England or if others have had the same problem recently.

I don't have a Lifescan meter currently but used to but not your particular model. Though when i changed meters found that they also fitted my new one too. I have had 3 different makes and the Lancet seemed to fit in different lancing devices.

One lancet should last a year so you will be fine 🙂

Don't forget that the lancet only has to fit the finger pricker you are using, and the finger pricker doesn't have to be from the same company, it can be any one. I use Freestyle Libre/Optium and Contour Next meters, but I use an Accuchek Multiclix finger pricker because I prefer it 🙂 So if you can't obtain lancets for your current one try and get a different one for which lancets are available 🙂

As Sue suggests though, lancets can be made to last a long time - I'm still on my first box after 9 years 😱 🙂

I use Multiclix too, also with a meter from a different company, and my pharmacy is also having a problem getting supplies. I thought that it was perhaps because the Multiclix is old tech. I think the latest offering from Accuchek is Fastclix.

Actually yes, I think the Multiclix has been superceded by the Fastclix now, and may no longer be available. I'd suggest giving Accuchek/Roche a call and asking for a fastclix pricker, I'm sure they will supply one for free 🙂 I've got 3 Multiclix prickers, so have back ups that should last me for a good few years yet 🙂

Yep - Roche withdrew the Multiclix lancets just before I swapped my pump from the Combo to the Insight - getting on for 2 years ago now! They issued a notice to say they were doing it, to give those of us registered with 'My Accu-Chek' plenty of tie to swap bodgers. The Insight meter came with a Fastclix - which I have to say is not quite as comfy as the Multi but still a lot better than mot other offerings I've used n the past.

I'm on my second box of Fastclix lancets! Already!

I still forget to change lancets, until the finger complains a lot!!!
Still on second lancet for Fastclix after changing over in March!!
I really should change them more often.
