Did you remember?

Oh no! I completely forgot! Now I am stuck with this lancet for another year!

To be fair, if I only changed it once every 5 years now it wouldn't get the use of a year without Libre, so not overly concerned about letting it go another year.... or two for that matter.

... chalk hearts melting on a playground wall? 🙂

My FastClix just failed terminally (spring is gone it appears), thankfully I have a spare (and it's probably not a bad thing as if I ever wanted to change the depth it would be a bit of a guessing game as all the numbers wore off long ago).

I hope the Diabetes Gods don't frown upon me for two lancet changes in the space of a week! 😉

I do think the newer, and probably sharper, lancets do seem to get blunter more quickly, or rather they probably reach the level of bluntness we were all used to when yearly changes where par for the course (or at least not so far off the truth that is was an amusing joke).

While it pains me to admit it, I do probably change mine every few weeks (though mainly as I have one of the 6 lancet magazines so it's very easy to flick it around to the next one - that is a new lancet, not a new magazine, I don't want to waste money 😉) In my defence, before these things, with my 10yo box of probably-not-very-sharp lancets I might go a few months between changes.

I'm quite stoical about pain, but after a certain point, I can't extract any blood at all and have to change lancets. I haven't been recording lifespans but I'm pretty sure the last one only worked for about a week.

I am probably reasonably tolerant of pain and I am genuinely going a second year with my lancet since I missed St Swithin's day, and never have problems getting blood or getting sore fingers from finger pricking and \i never get infections in them despite often testing when my fingers are dirty.... think picking out horses feet/ mucking out or gardening. I do however get sore cracked fingers and feet particularly in winter due to dry skin which are sometimes so painful I could cry, so maybe that makes me much less concerned or discomforted by a tiny finger prick

Yes, I feel your pain, literally, once the weather gets cold and damp. Long last the summer!
