Hiya Folks
I need your help again.
Woke up last night about 1am needing the loo. Thought I'd test to see how high I was and got 3.1! Felt OK and a bit puzzled so went to the loo and washed my hands, tested again 11.0! Waited half hour and tested again 10.5. Gave up and went to sleep and woke up at 9.3.
Do you think I woke up from a hypo? I know that the liver can help you out, could this be what happened or was the low reading bobbins?
Thanks in advance wise people.

I'd be very suspicious of the 3.1 reading if you were up to 11 after just going to the loo, unless you had some good reading matter in there and didn't get the 11 test until an hour or so later 🙂 As far as I know, the liver kicking in wouldn't increase your levels like that in the space of a minute or two. Your further reading would also suggest that you didn't drop low, also the fact that you had no symptoms (I usually wake up in a cold sweat and disorientated). Moreover, the high level may be what made you wake up needing to go to the loo!

Ta, that's my view also but I haven't caught a night time one yet so wanted to check.

Some handwash soapy things can allegedly affect certain BG meters. It's all very vague since the instructions will warn you not to use certain products, but if you ever do (often unavoidable) they don't seem to make a difference.

But a remote possibility.

If ever you get a hypo and you're not sure. Always retest. Likewise highs.🙂

sounds like a rogue 3.1 to me....unless when you washed your hands, you dipped your fingers in some sugar and then tested!!

very bizarre, and just as well you retested!! hope you're levels are better today 🙂

I'd be tempted to test blood glucose before and after using the same handwash liquid / soap etc to exclude possibility that it gave a higher than true reading.
