I understand how you feel. I was diagnosed at 16. I was a naive child, and the parenting I received was not the best, it lead me to being obese and diabetic. I have to make up for those mistakes now, or I risk dying. I don't want to continue on a bad path. A path of regret (knowing I could have done something) a path of depression and stress, 2 things which will consume me if I don't act while I still can.

I hope you can get through this, and there is much support it seems on this forum, one reason I decided to join. You can always message me or anyone else and we would be glad to help you with what we are able. You are NOT alone when it comes to this.

Mark, thank you for the recipe ideas. It all sounds really tasty. I have heard of the lidl high protein rolls, which ones are they? We have a bakery counter in the lidl by us, but there's no names on the different rolls that they have.
Is peanut butter okay to eat? I thought it would be high in sugar.
I'm really wanting something sweet to eat right now, I made a roast dinner earlier and I always fancy something sweet afterwards.

Hi Whisper, from a fellow T2.
I've not sorted my own diet out yet, so can't give much help.
Testing can help. Do before and 2 hours after eating. That will show you what effect your food has.
After a couple of weeks, start changing things. Test more and compare to the first couple of weeks.
You're BG will go up and down during the day, and from day to day.
Some test at different times after eating to see what the peak is. I'm higher 1 hour after than at 2.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply. I tested two hours after dinner today. I had muffins with bacon and scrambled egg. My levels were 5.4. I am going to test them again soon.
Do you experience mood swings too?

5.4?
Wish my levels were within that range, woke up this morning, it was 13.2, had coffee with cinnamon, then some porridge mid morning, tested again about 3pm, it was 9.2.
Decided to have a snack so had half of a wholemeal baguette with cheese and a cup of tea (no sugar), tested myself 2 hours later, it was 18.2 :(

Step away from the baguette! Wholemeal or not, it will raise your BG. If you have a Lidl near you, try to get their high protein rolls. Much lower carb.

Wow, how come they had gotten so high? That's a massive rise. When I woke this morning, they were 8.1, then I tested a while after lunch and they were 5.4
I thought that they would be High having just eaten? I ate a jacket potatoe with chicken.
