hello I’m new n type 1 and I also have autoimmune disease I have to have Ivgs drips every 3 weeks.

Hi and welcome
Sorry to hear that you have other health complications to deal with. There are other members here who face multiple serious issues and it must be very challenging. I know I struggle just to get my head around my diabetes, so I have great admiration for people who juggle other diseases and ailments and still manage to stay sane.
How did your diagnosis come about and how are you managing your insulin? Would you like to share your HbA1c reading with us. This is the blood test they do to identify that you are diabetic.
Feel free to tell us a bit more about yourself including interests and hobbies if you wish. I am sure we are all happy to hear about things other than just Diabetes here.

Best wishes

Barbara

Hello and welcome to the forum 🙂
What is the other condition you have? Some members on here have multiple autoimmune conditions, so may be able to help.

Hello @Imstillme welcome to the forum.🙂 You say you also have an auto immune problem also,T1 diabetes is an auto immune condition. Can you elaborate a bit further? especially the medication you are on, we are here to help.

I was rushed to hospital after months of ignoring my symptoms. Thirst frequent urinating weak lathargy out of breath could not walk jaundice being sick everything realy. Found out my blood cells are attacking each other and my heamaglobin was very low like 37 now it over 100 which is good. But found out I have autoimmune disease anemia and type 1. My readings are normally anything from 6.something on morning or upwards during the day. If I snack too much they will go up haha.

Well - change your snacks to carb free ones - either that or have more insulin but on balance it's generally better to not snack so much, as my waistline can confirm ……. most of my wardrobe seems to have inexplicably shrunk …..

For a snack I may have a bit of cheese or chicken. Avoiding carbs between meals seems to work best for me unless I need something to keep my levels up when I have a nature valley protein bar or an oatcake.

Hi @Imstillme and welcome to the forum. I have multiple auto-immune conditions too.

My snacks (for which I don't need any extra insulin) tend to be a couple of TUC biscuits and a chunk of cheese, or a couple of squares of very high (85%) cocoa dark chocolate, or a handful of walnuts or pecans. If you wanted something a bit healthier you could have a stick of celery, with or without a bit of soft cheese in it. If you wanted a treat (like a slice of birthday cake) you'd need extra insulin for that, but you'd have to ask your diabetes team for advice about how much extra you'd need, if you haven't started carb counting yet.

I have ME, which is a neurological disease which effects the immune system, and (in my case) makes it over-active - as a result my body is attacking itself, and as a result of that I also have Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (an immune disease which basically causes allergic-type reactions to a huge range of substances), type 1 diabetes, and hypothryoidism.

I don't have to have drips for anything (except for the insulin, glucose, and potassium drips they put me on when I was first diagnosed with diabetes, but I'm hoping I won't need any of those again) - that must be a real pain.

Hello & Welcome to the forum. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them. I also live with Type One Diabetes.
