Just thought I'd pop in to say hello to everyone. 🙂

Diabetes runs in the family, there's only one of us who hasn't got it. o_O

Welcome - you're in the right place to get lots of support and helpful tips.

Hello and welcome to the forum. 🙂

Hi and welcome. I expect you have lots of knowledgeable people around you but should you have any questions do ask or just join in. We are a friendly bunch, haven’t been bitten by anyone yet!!

Hi Sarah and welcome from me too.

Would you like to share a bit more information about your diagnosis... ie what your HbA1c is and if you have been prescribed any medication or if you are looking to control it by diet and exercise alone.

Sometimes the doctors and nurses don't give the best dietary advice to diabetics and the rest of your family may not have been pointed in the right direction, so if you are interested in learning more about the things to avoid or cut down on then self funding a Blood Glucose Meter can be a huge benefit in learning how to manage your levels. They are not expensive to buy @ approx. £15 but the on going cost of purchasing test strips can run up the finances, so choosing a meter which has the cheapest test strips makes sense and for that reason the SD Codefree Blood Glucose Meter is recommended by many on this forum as test strips are just £8 for a pot of 50. It can be purchased from Amazon if you are interested.
I wish you luck with your Diabetes journey. It can be pretty overwhelming in the first few weeks/months but eventually you get the hang of it.
