Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
So found out I have type 1 yesterday morning and headed off the hospital for the whole day, got all my stuff and started injecting myself, always had a fear of getting this disease and I end up getting it, I wonder if I develop a fear of winning the lottery it might happen? (wishful thinking)

Anyway getting to grips with it but can't help but feel like my life is now ruined and just no point in moving forward, just want to stick around for as long as possible to see my kids grow up but feel really down and in the dumps about the whole thing now.

Going to be getting back into healthy diet and gym again in next few weeks but just can't help but feel DOWN!

Guess I'll be on the forums quite a bit now getting all the info I can.

Hi and welcome to the forum 🙂 feel free to ask any questions you may have, we are a friendly and supportive bunch round here, I'm only 6 months in myself but there are lots of more experienced members who have supported me through my journey so far and I wouldn't be in the place I am now without them 🙂 x

Hi Cleancode and welcome to the gang 🙂. As Kaylz says, we're a friendly bunch so ask away if you have any questions. Also, if you need a rant, feel free - we all need one now and again.

Hello Cleancode, and welcome 🙂
It's understandable that you feel down at first, but - it's possible to live a pretty much normal life with diabetes, so please don't feel like yours is ruined. We have members here who've had diabetes for decades and are perfectly healthy!
Please ask if you have any questions, there is a wealth of information here.

Hello from a fellow newly.
Lets wait and see how others advise us about moving on.

Welcome Cleancode from anther diagnosed with T1 as an adult. It is a lot to take in at the start but as others have said it does not need to stop you doing anything, it just takes a bit more organising and planning.

Feel free to ask any questions you have, there is a wealth of experience on here, as well as a lot of very helpful people who understand exactly what it is like.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Your life definitely isn't ruined! You will soon get the hang of things. This forum is a great place for help and advice.

Hi, Cleancode, and welcome. We are lucky to live in a technological age, where new things are constantly being invented to help us monitor and control our blood glucose. Which doesn't mean it's not a pain in the A on occasions, but it it's certainly doable, and we have people on the forum who have got their 50 yr medals, and are still in full working order ( apart from the pancreas!)
