Diabetic review at GP (again)

Got a text on my phone about a week ago from my GP surgery stating I have an appointment with their diabetic nurse, (for earlier today).
No other info, just the time and date of the appointment.
So I've spent the last week worrying about why they've called me in for a relatively fast appointment.

NB: At my local GP surgery, there is usually currently several weeks wait for a "normal" appointment. Hence my anxiety....
Plus, I only had an annual diabetic review about six weeks ago, and a blood test around the same time, and they were quite happy with me at that time. The blood test did subsequently show that I had slightly high cholesterol and triglyerides, so I thought it might be about that.

But no, turns out it was just another diabetic review, even though I only had one in Feb? the diabetic nurse reckons their IT system might have had a brain fart (my words, not hers!). So we had a quick chat, she checked my feet (again) and she was quite happy with me, did not even mention the Cholest or Triglys's. But I did mention it and when she checked, she was happy to monitor it for now.

So no biggie and I spent a week worrying all for nowt, so I can sigh again and carry on as before...... 😎

Glad your appointment was just a routine one, and not a cause for concern - it’s amazing how our brains can instantly concoct whole stories and narratives from the most fragmentary of snippets of information!

Sounds like you ‘passed’ with flying colours!

Oh dear, I would have been exactly the same. Glad it wasn't anything bad 🙂

I have a telephone review booked with the nurse next week. Hopefully it will be my last quarterly one and I can go onto annual reviews around my birthday in October going forward.
Our surgery sent me a text to book the blood test then phoned a week later to book the same test although I had the appointment confirmed.

In one way I'm glad they are keeping an eye on me, but it would be nice if each department/section actually communicated with each other more effectively.
What annoys me is that the technology is out there and could so easily be used, but large organisations, especially in the public sector, never seem to get it right? but hey ho.....
NB: I speak as someone who worked in a large public sector organisation and had some input in IT development.
