Diabetic options in restaurants

I'm good at erring, not so good at forgiving. Despite being raised in a Catholic family it doesn't come naturally.

Off topic - I don't call myself a "lapsed Catholic" as that suggests there was ever a time I believed in any of it
I wasn't brought up in any religious tradition and I don't have any religious beliefs now, although I aim to respect people's beliefs, given that I've lived and worked in various multicultural parts of the UK - and I've been employed by an orthodox Jewish charity!

I went out for a while with a very devout Catholic. When I asked her how she coped with going out with an unbeliever, she said that she went to Confession after every time we'd been together, which made it okay. Also, she said that it was better being an unbeliever than a Protestant.

Since being diagnosed in January, I have come to realise how difficult it can be to navigate a menu when eating out. There are always vegan, veggie and gluten free options but these are not always low carb. Wondered if there had ever been any campaigns to have diabetic options included on menus? Just having fruit and cream options on the desert menu would be helpful!
I have always thought this too. I generally avoid pasta, rice, bread and potatoes. As I like red meat, poultry, fish, and dairy I generally ask for dishes that do not include high carb. I ask for potatoes to be left off and substituted with more veg or a salad. They are very obliging I find. Some charge for a side, others just add more veg. I personally can go without desserts and loads of breads but know everyone is not the same.
