Just had an email from Joel at DUK asking me to get involved and help them with there test strip campaign starting in April .wanted help with deciding on a name for the campaign personally I liked stripped back.Has anyone else had an email

Would you believe it - was in my DSN's office and her mob kept ringing with the same local no. I said that could be someone like me and absolutely panicking - and we were more or less finished so next time she answered.

Type 1 pump user - Insight pump. The one with the handset which is both a glucometer and a remote control for the pump. and works out your doses, insulin on board etc. Ordered repeat script including strips, sent direct to pharmacy as usual. Goes to pick it up - strips changed. She queries it - gets told nobody is allowed to have anything but whatever because yours are too expensive now. Woman is completely in bits - her husband rings DSN for her. So the DSN landed up (after I'd gone) having to ring her doctor to explain the error of his ways.

Hospitals should NOT have to do this c**p - I don't know if it's because GPs give the job of 'just change everyone to these' to someone with only one brain cell - or they are simply so stupid themselves they haven't a clue how much we actually RELY on smart meters like we need to use.

Let alone not prescribing or restricting T2s access.

The Practiec changed my needles without telling me. I wrote and complained and explained that changes can have a big impact. The next time they wanted to change something they asked first. I am not sure whether it is because I may be flagged as an awkward ... or whether they have seen the error of their ways.

It is generally a change that is made by the admin staff after instruction from GPs in response to a directive from CCG which is implemented across the board unless someone complains. No reason why admin should know that this is crazy, but still irritating.

Yeah - but GPs should have a system to flag up people they don't want to change - otherwise it can cause totally unnecessary anguish, exactly as happened on Friday. They have to be taught to blooming well THINK before they instigate such instructions across the board.

The Office function is an integral part of a surgery - and it's hopeless for all concerned if it's DYS functional !

Thanks for the suggestions everyone - we're having a good look them at the minute and some great ideas in there. And love the one's suggested in this thread too; "Striptease" may be a bit racy for the campaign name but certainly creative 🙂
