Diabetes UK’s Type 2 Together service is a new volunteer-led approach to learning more about living with diabetes from people who understand what it’s like to live with the condition. We offer people a chance to meet others with Type 2 diabetes in their local area, to share experiences and practical tips to live well with diabetes. We are developing a network of groups for people with Type 2 diabetes to support each other in relaxed and informal sessions, facilitated by a trained volunteer who has diabetes themselves. Sometimes you need support from someone who knows exactly what you're going through. Whatever is on your mind, there's a good chance somebody else at our Type 2 Together groups has been through the same thing.
The groups are run once a month in local venues by trained volunteers who also have diabetes, and are currently available in:
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
Includes Cambridge, Peterborough, Huntingdon, St Ives and Fulbourne.
East and North Hertfordshire
Includes Hitchin, Letchworth, Stevenage, Welwyn Garden City, Hertford, Hoddesdon and Bishop’s Stortford.
Mid-Essex
Includes Braintree, Witham, Chelmsford and Maldon.
North East Essex
Includes Colchester and Clacton.
Dudley
Includes Brierley Hill, Stourbridge and Halesowen.
Coventry and Rugby
