Call the Diabetes UK helpline tomorrow morning and see what they can suggest/recommend.

Just what I was going to suggest @ColinUK

It seems very unfair to have been made redundant because of being told to shield :(

Hi I'm type 1, have been for about 26 years.

Need a bit of advice. I started shielding, as I am classed as extremely clinically vulnerable, in March. I was covered on full furlough until June when I was made redundant. Are there any benefits I can claim in this situation? Is there anyone else in the same situation? And what are you doing for income?

Sorry to heat that Kiwi.
My experience being made redundant was that of no support if you have assets > £16k now and havent reached retirement age.

Universal Credit? Although only applies if you have less than 16k savings. Best to check on the DWP website
<16k in assets vihouse equity or savings
Thanks for your help, although I feel 100 today!

I was made redundant on the back of financial crisis and was shocked to learn there was no state support despite paying taxes for years as i had 1 bed flat with equity in it. Their suggestion was flog it. :-/ . i rented it out and moved home 9 years ago, since which i gained an MSc and have had 3 years work. Not altogether the best situation. I hope you do better than i did/ am doing.

Like others have suggested , CAB is a good starting point, they gave us help with my wife's claim for ESA and PIP a few years ago. I assume you have other 'issues' as just at a diabetic you wouldn't have been shielding and would be unable to claim ESA.
