I had decided not to go for any more diabetes reviews because they just wind me up. But first I got a letter and then a phone call, so I will be going on Wednesday morning :(. It won't be good because I have had this virus thing for five weeks now and it is still hanging one and sending my BG levels all over the place. Still have chest tightness and a very sore throat but no cold as such. Guess I'll have the medication talk afterwards, not good. Went for my eye appointment at the hospital and they tell me I have not one but two cataracts, so they will need to do both. Dr said, "Well you have diabetes so it is to be expected. It is a progressive disease and you can't fix it". Made me feel a bit overwhelmed, but I am going to keep trying whatever they say. 🙂

I'm sorry about the virus and you not feeling well. Boo doctors. Had you told them you weren't bothering about reviews? I know, being assertive with medical people can be a problem.
*{hugs}*

Diabetes is but one factor in the development of cataracts, so I’m not sure why doctors think that cataracts are inevitable in diabetes, or represent some kind of poor control.

I have had both eyes treated for cataracts. My older brother had both eyes treated for cataracts, at exactly the same age as I was when I was treated. I have diabetes, he doesn’t. So what condition caused his cataracts? Same as mine, age and genes.

You just keep trying, happydog, ignore the doomsayers, and I hope the bug clears up soon.

I had cataracts treated in both eyes in 2013 at the age of 63 this was before my diabetes dx in 2017. I put it down to age but I also believe I have been in and out of the dabetic range since my mid 30"s with various other niggling issues which have now mysteriously vanished since I gained BG control.
I believe diabetes can be a contriubtory factor but not the single causation factor.
